Nokia publications

I recently discovered that Nokia, my sponsor for this project, is publishing a lot of interesting material on the web. It ranges from future concept videos to ethnographic studies from around the world. Here are some of the documents and materials I found interesting.

Nokia World
www.nokia.com/nmc

The annual gathering for Nokia and its collaborators (operators, partners, etc) in the mobile community. The dedicated website offers webcasts and presentation files from the event. Be sure to watch some of the webcasts. It's a good crash course on the state of the mobile phone and its future directions (at least the ones envisioned by Nokia). The webcast from Dr. Tero Ojanperä, Nokia's CTO, ends with strong visions of gesture and sensors-based mobile experiences. The presentation Connecting people to sensors [pdf] by Eero Punkka covers possibilities in Mobile Sports Electronics and presents toughts on ultra-low power networked sensors.

Nokia - A View of the Future
www.youtube.com/profile?user=NokiaDesign

A collection of four videos showing future scenarios, concepts and ideas involving mobile devices.

Jan Chipchase
page at Nokia, personal site

M. Chipchase is Principal Researcher (User Research) at Nokia in Tokyo. The list of publications and presentations available online is impressive. I didn't had the time yet to go trough all of them, but I will for sure eventually. Nice reports and use cases from all over the world.

Nokia Research Center
research.nokia.com

The official portal to Nokia's research people and works. A lot of great researchers and tons of technical publications.
